We are Done......

building our third barn.  I really shouldn't say WE.  I did help. but I also helped my husband fall off the ladder....twice.  I helped with putting the roofing on wrong. He fired me 3 times. But then I got my job back...  My real job will be to paint it.   Here is the story in pictures.

This is where my husband fell off. I don't have any pictures of that..

We have had the wood for this barn since last year. Between Goat pee and the weather the boards  look bad.

We will pressure wash and stain the wood , that should  take care of the "issues" of the color.

I was to lazy to walk out to the pasture to get a closer picture. Now its my turn to paint.

Hours of Fun!

Do you know what this is?  Yes, hours of  fun. 12 yards of it. We made garden beds last year out of anything we could find. This year we are trying to make it possible to get into the beds. The grass and weeds have taken over.

This bed is made out of rocks and old foundation from the old house that used to be on the property.

Just starting.

The metal water troughs are excellent  for keeping out slugs

With the help of my Son, we are almost done!

Hay loft....exciting stuff

When we started look at building a barn, I had no idea the cost. When we got done with our Barn tour I was in shock at the cost.. Long story short, my Husband help design the current 3 barns we have on our property with the help of Penny Pincher barns . The barns on P.P web site are our barns,  The one down side is there is no hay storage.  After months of thinking about it I came across this idea in the Mary Jane Farm Magazine.  We decided this would be a perfect solution for our hay storage problem.

This is a Costco "carport". We bought this to use as our hay storage. It didn't work. The horses could walk right through the walls.

Hubby laid down pressure treated lumber and attached pallets to them for the walls. I don't think the horses will be able to walk through now!

Yes, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you. There is a poster of Aplol Ohno in the hay barn!

We used an old door from our cabin. It was really heavy so we took the glass out and had the kids paint pictures on light plywood.

Almost done.

Our first load of hay

All done. Doesn't look great!  Horses, bring it on!

The 4th of July

Our Day started off early. Our Daughter always does the "Race for the pies". A 5k race in Carnation. Two years ago she came in third for her age group. This year she came in second and she got a pie!  I'm amazed that she is so willing to do this. When I was her age I would of never thought of running in a race.

Getting ready to run!

This finish line. We were to busy running around taking pictures of the race we didn't make it back to take a picture of her crossing the finish line. I know bad mother, but she runs fast!

Then we went to the Carnation parade after the run. Here are some pictures of the Parade

That evening we were invited to our friends Mothers house.  What a great time we had!

I have never seen so many fireworks in one place. It blew my mind.

A beautiful house. The Hosts were wonderful! Thank you for having us!

We hope you all had a wonderful and Safe 4th of July.
